Tofu Satay

This tofu satay recipe is really easy to make, and can be used to create a mouthwatering starter, or main course accompanied with egg fried rice or chow mein.

Tofu Satay

  • 400 g Firm Tofu cut into 1cm thick slices
  • 1 tbsp oil


  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Peanut Butter smooth
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Peanut Sauce

  • 1/2 onion finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove pressed
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce light
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce dark
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 200 ml coconut milk
  • 4 tbsp peanut butter smooth



  • Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl
  • Add the slices of tufu, spreading the marinade over all sides of each piece and put the bowl to one side

Satay Sauce

  • Add the sesame oil, onion, garlic and soy sauce to a pan and stir over a medium heat for 2 minutes
  • Add the brown sugar and peanut butter, and stir for 1 minute
  • Add the coconut milk and stir until everything is mixed together
  • Reduce the heat to a low setting whilst you cook the tofu

Tofu Satay

  • place a large frying pan or wok over a medium heat and add the oil
  • place the marinaded tofu pieces in the pan and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side
  • pour the satay sauce over the browned tofu and serve
